Synopsis

Dark Utilities is a mod that adds a variety of traps, filters, charms, and tools that may be very useful to the player, especially when it comes to constructing mob farms.

Plates

• Vector Plate: pushes entities slowly in the direction the plate is facing. Sneaking mobs and players are not affected.
• Fast Vector Plate: a faster version of the Vector Plate (above)
• Extreme Vector Plate: a much faster version of the Vector Plate (above)
• Anchor Plate: locks any entities that touch the plate in place, facing the direction of the plate. Sneaking mobs and players are not affected. Boss mobs are not affected.

Traps

• Poison Trap: affects mobs and players who touch the trap with poison
• Weakness Trap: affects mobs and players who touch the trap with weakness
• Damage Trap: damages mobs and players who touch the trap
• Slowness Trap: affects mobs and players who touch the trap with slowness
• Flame Trap: sets mobs and players who touch the trap on fire
• Wither Trap: affects mobs and players who touch the trap with the wither effect
• Maim Trap: permanently lowers the max health of mobs when they step on it. Max health cannot go below 1 heart. Any mob with 1 heart will be killed by this trap. Players and boss mobs will take damage instead of losing max health.
• Player Trap: mobs and players who touch this trap will be damaged by Player Damage. This means that mobs will drop experience and player-only drops, and the damage has a knockback effect.

Sneaky Blocks and Items

All of the items in Dark Utilities with the prefix Sneaky have a very special property. When the player right clicks on any Sneaky variant with a block in hand, the Sneaky variant will mimic the texture of the block in the player’s hand, but not its hitbox. This does not consume the block in the player’s hand, and can be done any number of times with each Sneaky variant. Breaking a Sneaky variant will drop the original Sneaky block or item.

• Sneaky Block: has all the properties of ordinary stone.
• Sneaky Lever: has all the properties of a lever, even after it takes a block’s texture. Right clicking on the Sneaky Lever with an empty hand will toggle it on or off, emitting a redstone signal like a vanilla lever. Has the hitbox of a solid block.
• Sneaky False Block: a block that has no hitbox. Any entity can pass through this block, regardless of the texture it is mimicking.
• Sneaky Torch: has all the properties of a torch except it has the hitbox of a solid block. This includes emitting light.
• Sneaky Obsidian: has all the properties of obsidian, including only being minable with diamond level tools, regardless of its current texture.
• Sneaky Pressure Plate: has all the properties of a vanilla pressure plate except it has the hitbox of a solid block. Standing on top of the Sneaky Pressure Plate will emit a redstone signal like a normal pressure plate.
• Sneaky Bedrock: has all the properties of vanilla bedrock, including being unbreakable (unless there is a mod or glitch that allows bedrock to be broken. )
• Sneaky Button: has all the properties of a vanilla stone button except it has the hitbox of a solid block. Right clicking on the Sneaky Button with an empty hand will emit a short redstone pulse like a normal stone button.

Filters

All Filter blocks added by Dark Utilities do essentially the same thing; they are a solid, impassable block to all entities in the game except those in a specific category. For those specific entities that fall into their category, the Filter has no hitbox and can be passed through as if there was nothing there.

• Player: only players can pass through
• Undead: only undead mobs can pass through
• Arthropod: only arthropods can pass through
• Hostile: only hostile mobs can pass through
• Animal: only animals can pass through
• Water: only aquatic mobs can pass through
• Baby: only baby mobs can pass through
• Pet: only pets can pass through *** did not work with my tamed horse, but did work on my tamed dog
• Slime: only slime can pass through
• Fire Resistant: only fire immune mobs can pass through
• Boss: only boss mobs can pass through

All of the above filters can be placed into a crafting grid and turned into an inverted version of itself. For example, an inverted Player Filter will allow everything EXCEPT players to pass through.

Charms

All of the items listed below will be effective while they are anywhere in the player’s inventory, including in baubles slots. They will not be effective while in bags in the player’s inventory however.

• Aggression Charm: increases the aggro range of hostile mobs towards the player. In addition, when the player attacks a hostile mob, all mobs of the type will aggro onto the player within a certain range
• Focus Sash: prevents the player from being one-shot (killed by one attack or damage source that deals damage greater than or equal to the player’s max health). Only works when the player is at full health.
• Gluttony Charm: allows the player to eat food instantly (no animation)
• Null Charm: deletes all blocks that enter the player’s inventory of certain types. You can configure which blocks get deleted by right clicking with the Null Charm in hand and adding blocks to its inventory.
• Portal Charm: allows the player to travel through portals instantly (skips animation)
• Sleep Charm: when the player right clicks a bed to sleep, the player will instantly sleep and leave the bed (skips sleep animation)
